ICI Bargaining
2010 is a bargaining year in the ICI construction industry. The electrical industry is unique in its collective bargaining as it uses the Joint Proposal Method to settle wages and other monetary matters.
Each bargaining cycle begins with a vote by the membership to determine their desire to use the Joint Proposal approach. A letter was sent to the membership describing the process and asking them to vote on whether or not they wanted their leadership to bargain in this manner. The membership voted overwhelmingly to support the joint proposal process. Click here to see the voting results.
In late March, the bargaining agents for the IBEW and the contractors met over four days to hammer out a new deal. As a result of the negotiations, a settlement was reached without going to the selector. The final deal included a $3.65 wage increase over three years.

The Joint Proposal Process has resulted in the electrical industry setting the trend for wage settlements in the ICI sector of the construction industry and has given our valuable owner-clients the comfort that they can use our services uninterrupted, even in a bargaining year.
