About Us
The IBEW CCO was established as a
result of the Ontario Provincial Government's legislation
institutionalizing province wide bargaining. This resulted in a
simpler process so that those involved could make the best possible
agreement; as opposed to being influenced by the outcome in other
bargaining situations.
Since then, the IBEW CCO and the Electrical Contractors
Association of Ontario (ECAO) have taken province wide bargaining
one step further with a strategy known as the 'Joint
Proposal'. Before the expiry of the current principal
agreement, the IBEW CCO mails out a letter to the members asking
for the continued support to renew the procedure of negotiating a
collective agreement without a work stoppage. With a mandate from
the membership to renew this procedure, both sides are allowed to
bargain without the threat of strikes and/or lockouts and, at the
same time, securing the highest standard in negotiated wages,
benefits, and working conditions.
Today, IBEW CCO represents eleven IBEW Local Unions across the
Province of Ontario serving over 14,000 men and women working in
various electrical sectors: Industrial, Commercial and
Institutional (ICI), Maintenance, Residential, Communications,
Linework and Renewable Energy/Solar.
The IBEW CCO is actively involved in protecting our membership,
enforcing health and safety, and securing our market share through
education and awareness. This website is the 'springboard'
for anyone who is interested in becoming an IBEW member and for
those existing members who would like to know more about what we do
for you!
